Everything is transient. Nevertheless, people tend to cling to the material things that are connected with personal memories.
Point of departure of my book «Das gelebte Haus» (The House Lived) is my grandmother’s moving to a more fitting home. The former residence on the Rheingasse in Basel’s old town center serves me as a projection surface for the process of an involuntary release of personally charged stories.
Now a mere empty hull, the traces of objects and their bygone use become recognizable in the bare spaces. Both, my stagings in the rooms of the house as well as the projections of old photographs from family albums revive memories.
