Das gelebte Haus / The House Lived
Photo Book
Everything is transient. Nevertheless, people tend to cling to the material things that are connected with personal memories.
Point of departure of Lukas Stadelmann’s book «Das gelebte Haus» (The House Lived) is his grandmother’s moving to a more fitting home. The former residence on the Rheingasse in Basel’s old town serves Stadelmann as a projection surface for the process of an involuntary release of personally charged stories.
Now a mere empty hull, the traces of objects and their bygone use become recognizable in the bare spaces. Stadelmann’s stagings in the rooms of the house, as well as projections of old photographs from the family album, revive memories.
