Das gelebte Haus

Everything is transient. Nevertheless, we tend to cling to the material things that are connected with personal memories.

Point of departure of my book «Das gelebte Haus» (The House Lived) is my grandmother’s moving to a more fitting home. The former residence on the Rheingasse in Basel’s old town serves me as a projection surface for the process of an involuntary release of personally charged stories.

Now a mere empty shell, the traces of objects and their former use become visible in the bare spaces. My own installations within the rooms, along with projections of old photographs from the family album, aim to evoke and revive memories.
